Greetings to the entire itch.io community!

We present you a prototype of the game under development with well-known rules, but with its own original feature.

The rules of our game are easy to learn, but in order to achieve mastery, you will have to spend a lot of time playing the game. Everyone knows the principle - "Rock-paper-scissors" - three mutually exclusive "figures". But in V.O.X. there is one significant difference - the "pieces" must be distributed in five slots, in any order, but no more than two identical ones per round. Thus, three identical "figures" cannot be placed on the playing field. Three pairs - five slots. One of the "pieces" will remain unplayed. It provides balance and brings an element of suspense to the game. After all, you never know what "figures" your opponent has filled in his slots with.

Game rules

Scissors cut paper, paper covers rock, rock blunts scissors

This version serves to test the gameplay and collect player feedback.

In the future the game will be transformed into something completely unlike the current build. We plan to add tournaments between players as a basic gameplay experience and visualize gameplay as a mech squad battle.

Leave your feedback and ideas in the comments on how you'd like to improve the game.

Fancy concept! I managed to beat NPC twice :-)

Result is revealed in steps, like you have two wins and two losses and that last one moment before revelation... Enjoyed that :D

I really loved how synthwaveish the music was, along with all those neon colors of UI. It feels ambient and stylish. Very pleasant to eyes, well done!

As for controls, first I was trying to click the element, but it came to me I had to drag it to a slot. Would be nice to have a shortcut - if you click on element, it fills empty slot left to right.

To sum up, this is awesome. Keep up!

Thank's for the evaluation!

In fact, the concept is even more fancy :D

This is just the tip of the iceberg - a test run of the gameplay concept.

We'll try to surprise everyone.

More game modes, more tracks, and a transition to 3D with all the consequences.

P.S. We were also thinking about the "autofill button" - now we'll definitely implement it. ;)

This is definitely an interesting variation on rock-paper-scissors!

One thing that strikes me is that in traditional RPS, there's at least some psychological element: "OK, in the last round I played rock and she played paper, so is she going to think I'm going to play scissors in case I play paper again?  If so, I should go with rock.  But if..." (and so on).  But here, you don't get any feedback between "rounds"; you just play all five of your plays at once.  That makes it feel a lot more like luck than anything else.

(In fact: if I had to guess, I'd say that if you come up with a strategy, I could still beat you about 50% of the time by playing randomly.)

Here's a thought, though: what if you had two Vs, two Os, and two Xs, but you revealed each one before playing the next one?  Now there's potentially some interesting strategy: "OK, it's round 4, and my opponent has two Vs and an O left.  That means my O can't lose, but it could still tie, so I want to make sure I play it when my opponent is playing a V and not their O...."

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see where this goes!

Thank you for your feedback. We will consider your idea and if it fits into the basic concept, then we will probably implement it at least in the form of a game mode with three slots. 👍
